Rapid Prototyping - SDU Vikings Racing Team
Since the electronics had already been selected, I couldn't do much but design “around it”. This is the reason why it looks a bit chubby as the clutch (the long button sticking out) required a lot of space.
On the front cover the SDU Vikings logo is placed in the middle, designed in 3 dimensional style.
The shift paddle system that I designed for the back of the steeringwheel was produced but never mounted because of a problem with the paint; it wouldn't dry. Because of the short time, we couldn't make a new one, so instead we decided to use two of the four blue buttons on the front to change gear with...
Project Details
After ending my internship at Ericsson, I teamed up with the SDU Vikings Racing Team again to help them finishing the car for competition two weeks later at Silverstone, UK.
Here I basically continued where I had left off 7 month earlier, by being handed the task of designing a steeringwheel with shiftpaddles. However the steering-wheel itself had been bought already, so in the task was to design a waterproof enclosure for electronics that could be mounted on the front and a shift paddle system that could be mounted on the back.
